I guess I haven't played a game yet where people weren't whining about how their personal preference in how to "wtfpwn" people should be more effective. What could be more "wtfpwn" than humiliating a person into paying a ransom?
Well, I'm a humble new player, and I have to say that I have paid, in advance, protection money and been blown up anyway. What's up with that? It's only the flip side of paying a ransom, just doing it in advance, eh?
Perhap I could be wrong, but you only have to be burned a few times before you decide that paying a ransom isn't worth it just because you hate to get ripped off. Perhaps other ransoming pirates are giving pirates in general a bad name? Maybe you should find out exactly who these "bad" pirates are and do something about it, eh? A little self-regulation. The mob HATES for people to mess with their good name. It's bad for business. What about piracy's name?
And what about all these pirates that use stabs to run? Exactly who is ruining what for whom? How can you expect non-pirates to not think stabs are a great idea, when there are plenty of pirates out there that think they are great when they are being hunted? It doesn't matter that YOU in particular don't use them, it only matters that lots of others do. So it is no answer to say "I" don't use them when plenty of your pals do.
By the way, since when do pirates care about what other people say about them anyway? What's all this concern about "care bears" whining that pirates should ask for a ransom?? For that matter, what is the concern about "care bears" whining that they get double or triple teamed when the pirates have a tackler? Do you honestly aspire to be a popular and well-loved pirate? Do I dare say that all this pirates worried about other people whining are in fact "care bear pirates" that really want to be hugged and kissed for being a pirate?
Or could there be an ulterior motive here? Maybe it isn't the whining that the pirates are worried about, but they are really "care bear pirate politicians." They want to make things a bit easier for themselves because, at heart, they care very much that the world would be a little easier on them (hence "care bear") and so they hope to somehow influence the rules of the game (hence "politician").
Where are the hard ass non-care bear pirates that say, "Damnit all this game is too easy. I need a challenge. Make it harder on me?" Nobody could accuse that pirate of being a "care bear pirate."
So, anyway, aside from the fact that it is durn difficult in this game to play toe to toe with an experienced player in pvp no matter what the conditions, I'll have you know that I'm the Eternal Newb and need to learn lots of stuff all the time. I'm always behind the times. So maybe you can help me with some of these alternative tactics of keeping a person from warping without a scrambler. Afterall, if I become a pirate, you won't see me whining about how hard things are like a "care bear pirate." I will be looking to use all the strategies I can, cause I want to be hard-ass pirate :)
BUMPING?? What's that? If I hit somebody with a missile, that delays his ability to warp?
Nosferatu. Is it really feasible to drain a person of so much energy that I can keep him from jumping?
What else is there?
Oh, just in case you think I made an alt for posting, my main is called Akopian Atrebates. I just like this guy's face better
